Telefonseelsorge Austria – Host of the XVIII IFOTES-Congress, 2010 in Vienna

Telefonseelsorge Austria has the pleasure, together with IFOTES (The International Federation of Telephone Emergency Services) to invite you to an International Congress in Vienna.

We are expecting the volunteer staff of the emergency telephone response centres of more than 20 countries for the purpose of further training and sharing experiences.

Colleagues from various member countries of IFOTES participate in more than 5 million conversations every year – they do this quietly, assuring their callers of trust and taking upon themselves the responsibility in the service of both those calling and society in general.

Experience teaches us that LISTENING is healing. Honest, empathetic and respectful listening provides the basis of what we offer. Perhaps attentive listening – especially in a time of crisis – is also a means of reducing violence in our society.
